STATE PERSONNEL ADMINISTRATION, JOB REDESIGN PROJECT

STATE PERSONNEL ADMINISTRATION
JOB REDESIGN PROJECT
IMPLEMENTATION DATE: JULY 1ST 2008

What is Changing?
Effective July 1st, job titles for employees in DHR and other state departments will change to new titles as part of the State Personnel Administration's (SPA) job redesign project. The new system will be streamlined with fewer and more broadly defined job descriptions than were previously used.

How Will it Affect Me?
Starting July 15th, DHR employees, with the exception of County DFCS employees, will see a new title on their pay advisements. While the change in title applies to County DFCS employees, these employees will not see the new titles. This is because they are on a different payroll system that does not include job titles on check stubs.

This conversion to new job titles will not result in salary changes for any employee.

What Other Changes Can I Expect to See?
Additionally, the State Personnel Administration (SPA) plans to implement new job descriptions, including qualifications, competencies, and career development criteria, on July 1, 2008. These jobs will be accessible on the SPA Job Website or http://www.spa.ga.gov/jobdescriptions/jobsalaryinfo.asp. (This is not available until July 1). If you do not have access to a computer, please contact your HR Office.

What Happens Next?
SPA is working on an updated compensation system; however, the anticipated implementation date is January 2010. The current system of pay grades and salary administration processes will continue to be in effect until that time.
